Kecak Dance

The kecak dance is a traditional Balinese dance, and quite popular with tourists and locals alike. So we knew that we were in for something special. What we didnt expect was about 40 men sitting around making `kek` noises for a good 20 minutes. For a while, we thought that was it,and then suddenly some dancers came out, then a monkey, a bird, more dancers, more monkeys, fat monkeys and it was all a blur. One of the dancers had a particularily concerned face, so we called her Concernicus, mainly because we didn`t quite get the story. But what we think happened was there was jealousy, some kidnapping, a death, a monkey king...and...well, you can see we could have done with the cliff notes! The dancing was beautiful, and the kekking from the men behind the dancing was a nice music to go with it, if not slightly aggrivating. The monkey costumes were really fun and we had a great laugh watching them dance, especially when they came out into the crowd! After we posed for lots and lots of photos, especially with the white monkey, who we thought was the star of the show, and a very good dancer!
